Maya Weimer creates new representations of diasporic and postcolonial identities.  Her work oscillates between the global and the particular to locate the ways in which the political dovetails with the personal:  How are national histories written into individual stories?

She is interested in providing counter-narratives to that which has

been "officially" historicized or remembered, often integrating the

documentary form with techniques in experimental film and video art.  Through these hybrid strategies, she strives to expand the language and form of time-based work in order to provide new perspectives on the realities of our globalized world.
